Our method

How we build our lessons and practice questions

Every lesson and practice question on Ultimate License Prep is based on material the California Department of Real Estate publishes. This page names those sources and tells you how to report a mistake.

The sources we use

Exam facts are taken from the official DRE pages and publications below, and the source is named where a fact is stated.

  • DRE: Salesperson Examination Content (the exam content outline with approximate weights)
  • DRE: Taking the Exam, and How & Where Exams Are Scheduled
  • DRE: salesperson requirements and application pages
  • The Real Estate Law book that DRE publishes (Real Estate Law and Subdivided Lands Law, Regulations of the Real Estate Commissioner, Administrative Procedure Act, and Pertinent Excerpts)

How DRE's exam content outline fits in

DRE publishes the salesperson exam content outline with approximate weights for each content area. We use that list to decide what to cover, and DRE notes that a test samples the broad field and does not necessarily cover every listed topic.

What we do not do

  • We do not publish pass rates, testimonials or promises of a passing score.
  • Practice questions are study aids. They are not the real exam, and DRE does not endorse them.
  • We do not state fees. DRE sets them and they change; check the DRE website.

Reporting a mistake

If something looks wrong, email support@ultimatelicenseprep.com with the page address and the source you think says otherwise. We compare the report with the source, and confirmed errors are corrected.

When rules change

Laws and DRE procedures change. Always check the current text at dre.ca.gov before you rely on a detail.
